Fuel Up And Then Get Moving

“May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless his people with peace!” Psalm 29:11 ESV

The psalmist David knew God’s voice intimately. He also understood the benefit of rest and how it unlocked God’s peace. Consider these words that he composed, “I will say to the Lord, my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” (Psalm 91:2 ESV) God offers this same refuge and strength to us today if we will only slow down long enough to receive it.

Moses, like David, knew the value of finding rest in the presence of God. Imagine for a minute this familiar scene among the Israelites. Moses would place the tent of meeting outside the Israelite camp, where he would routinely withdraw from the people to meet with the God of the universe. When Moses spent time alone with God, the Israelites would stand and worship in reverence of the presence of God. All of that time alone together with God is best described like this; “thus the Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.” (Exodus 33:11 ESV) Did you catch the intimacy in that verse? God spoke to Moses like a man speaks face to face with a friend! Wow!! Like Moses, God craves intimacy with you and me, and He longs to talk to us like a friend.

Like David and Moses, God is calling out to you and me. Pullover immediately into My heavenly gas station and let Me fill up your soul with My love in a way that only I can provide. Please stop trying to do My work on your own strength. Let Me give you clear instructions for your next mission. Let Me cover you with My Peace. And then get back out there on the road of life with your EYES WIDE OPEN to usher in the people I have placed in your path that desperately need My Love.
