Worship the Lord | Surrender Your Plan

“For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.” Psalms 84:10 ESV

When the worship portion of our church service begins, I have recently felt led into the following thoughts. I close my eyes and imagine that I am a secret agent or a navy seal who is returning to the throne room of God. I bow low, kneeling at His throne in reverence of His presence. I imagine that I am returning from a mission that the Lord has given me to go deep behind enemy lines to rescue one of his lost sheep from Satan’s grasp. We discuss the mission, and I give Him praise for allowing me to partner with Him in the darkest places of our world. I then simply ask... What’s next? What are my new instructions? For each remaining day of my life, I am yours, I love you, I crave you, I am All In and one day the Lord will say, “Well done, my servant! This is your last mission, and soon you will be coming home to permanently abide in my presence.”

Consider the following prayer next time you enter into worship.

“Lord I kneel at your throne. I surrender my plan and my agenda. Show me where you are at work around me. I will go where you send me. My life is not my own. I lay down my desire for safety and security.”

“Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!” Psalms 95:6 ESV

God has created each of us with a plan and a purpose. Our world tells us that we should be ENTITLED to a life of 60, 70, or even 80 years of healthy extravagant living. However, the Bible tells us that our days are numbered and that this world is not our home. Choose today to worship the Lord, surrendering your plan in exchange for the exciting mission you were uniquely created for.
