Becoming a Student of the Bible
"For Ezra had set his heart to study the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach the statutes and ordinances in Israel." Ezra 7:10 NRSV
Ezra knew what it meant to be a student of God's Word. He committed his life to studying, obeying, and teaching the ways of God to others.
Today, there are dozens of things competing for our time and attention. Where we spend our time often determines what we become an expert at. For you, maybe it's your career. You have put in the time, and it has paid huge financial dividends. For others, it is parenting. You fill your free time listening to podcasts and reading books on being the best parent possible. Finally, many of us prioritize becoming experts in things like fantasy sports, movie trivia, or the latest and greatest in new technology. When prioritized appropriately in our lives, all of these things are worthy pursuits.
But what if you were known for being an expert in the Bible? What would it look like for you to reorganize your life around studying, meditating on, and memorizing God's Word? The truth is that if we don't know what the Bible says, it will be impossible for us to live our lives according to God's ways.
Today, take a few minutes to ask God to fill you with a craving for His Word.
