God is Our Refuge in Times of Trouble

"There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. God is in the midst of the city; it shall not be moved; God will help it when the morning dawns. The nations are in an uproar, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge." Psalms‬ ‭46:4-7‬ ‭NRSV‬‬

As the fundamental idea that we serve a God who is present in every moment of our lives begins to take deep root in our hearts, the Holy Spirit expands our capacity to truly trust that "God is our refuge in times of trouble." Connecting these two ideas is critical because if you and I are not convinced that God is present in our most important moments, we are unlikely to run to Him in times of trouble.

Let your time alone with Jesus become your daily place of refuge. Allow the daily practice of spending extended time alone with Jesus to be your safe place to process the cares of the world, bringing healing and strength to your soul. If your world is falling apart, run into the loving arms of Jesus.
