Bitterness or Gratitude: Which Path Will You Choose?
"See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no "root of bitterness" springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled;" Hebrews 12:15 ESV
Dealing with unwanted and difficult circumstances is a part of life.
Maybe it was an accident that profoundly impacted your life's direction? An unexpected job loss? A broken relationship with family or friends? Or a medical diagnosis that has caused tremendous suffering?
Regardless of the circumstance, we have a choice of how we will move forward. Truth be told, we have very little control over what happens to us. We like to think we do, but we really don't. But we have total control over how we react.
There are two paths that we can take. One leads to bitterness: the other to gratitude. Both will have a profound impact on our families and friends for generations to come.
So what path will you choose? The "root of bitterness that springs up" causing anger, isolation, and retaliation. Or will you forge down the difficult path of gratitude that leads to forgiveness, reconciliation, and healing?
