God’s Great Invitation
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. “Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Those who believe in him are not condemned; but those who do not believe are condemned already, because they have not believed in the name of the only Son of God.” John 3:16-18NRSV
At just the right time, God sent Jesus into the world to live a sinless life. He gave up His life as a sacrifice for all of humankind, dying on a cross and being raised to life on the third day by the power of the Holy Spirit that "everyone who believes in him may not perish but have eternal life."
This is God's great invitation - that you and I might believe in the saving work of Christ on the cross. That we would surrender our lives into His loving hands, devoting our entire lives to being with Jesus, becoming like Jesus, and to doing what he did. Our lives are called to reflect the words of John the Baptist, "He must increase, but I must decrease (John 3:30)."
Have you heard and accepted God’s great invitation - inviting Jesus to be your Savior and Lord? If so, what area of your life is God currently inviting you to fully surrender to His will? And finally, take some time this week to wrestle with the question - who am I becoming?
